Snowden Marathon 25 October 2008
Sarn Helen members who took part in the 26th Snowdonia Marathon that was held in appalling weather conditions. This marathon is the hardest in Europe.
12 Members entered the race, eight completed the course, two retired and two did not run at all. Mark Dunscombe was first home from the club members in 3 hours 22 minutes 22 seconds in 61st position.
Eric Rees had an excellent race and was 27 minutes faster that last years time and finished in 177th position in 3 hours 38 minutes 31 seconds.
In 245th position Hayden Lloyd finished in 3 hours 48 minutes 4 seconds.
The wind was very strong and blew Caroline John over, and she finished in 3 hours 53 minutes and 25 seconds in 328th position.
Andrew Edgell had a good run as this was his first marathon. He came back in 620th position in 4 hours 21 minutes and 35 seconds.
Monica Barlow was televised by S4C and finished in 713th in 4 hours 30 minutes 1 second.
Halfway round in Beddgelert Robin Barlow went shopping for a pair of legging and came home 952nd in 5 hours 1 minutes and 17 seconds. Very trendy Robin!
Gudrun Jones finished in 1078th in 5 hours 35 minutes and 35 seconds.
Carwyn Thomas retired on the 13 mile and also Caryl Davies retired on the 19th mile.
Despite the weather conditions, the pain and the agony of running the marathon they will be back for more punishment next year.
